Ambassador RAO Hongwei Met with Governor YUAN Jiajun of Zhejiang Province

On September 7th, 2019, H. E. RAO Hongwei, Chinese Ambassador to Rwanda, met with the delegation headed by H.E. YUAN Jiajun, Governor of Zhejiang Province, China. Both sides exchanged views on Zhejiang-Rwanda cooperation in areas of digital economy, education and training, agricultural products trade and industrial park construction among others.

Ambassador RAO warmly welcomed Governor YUAN's delegation and said, China-Rwanda bilateral relations were currently at the best level in history. Bilateral cooperation and exchanges in all fields entered fast track. Cooperation between the two countries' local governments was in rapid rise. Rwanda enjoyed good business environment with natural conditions similar to Zhejiang. The two sides have great potential for industrial cooperation. The Embassy was ready to promote both sides of Zhejiang and Rwanda to achieve cooperative results beneficial to both peoples at an early date.

Governor YUAN sincerely thanked Ambassador RAO and the Chinese Embassy for their strong support and assistance during this visit and said, the visit was to implement the outcomes of President XI Jinping's state visit to Rwanda and the consensus reached by the two heads of state. Over the past 25 years after the 1994 genocide against Tusi, Rwanda has made remarkable achievements in national reconciliation and economic development. Rwanda enjoyed social stability, efficient and clean government. Zhejiang province would like to take this visit as an opportunity to leverage the potential of cooperation with Rwanda so as to contribute to a better China-Rwanda friendly relations.

Governor JAI Jun and his delegation, at the invitation of Hon. Clare AKAMANZI, ECO of Rwanda Development Board (RDB), visited Rwanda from September 6 to 8. During the visit, Governor YUAN met with President Paul KAGAME, and attended China(Zhejiang)-Rwanda Digital Economy Development and Cooperation Forum together with Rwandan Minister of Trade and Industry, ECO of RDB, Minister of ICT and Innovation, the two sides signed a total of seven project cooperation agreements in partner exchanges, cross-border electrical trade, personnel training, logistics & warehousing, agricultural trade among others.
