On April 27, 2021, His Excellency Rao Hongwei, Chinese Ambassador to Rwanda, meets with Ms Marie Claire Mukasine, Chairperson of the National Commission for Human Rights of Rwanda.
Ambassador Rao says, as developing countries, both China and Rwanda enjoy traditional deep friendship and share views in many issues including human rights. We both firmly stand against some countries' interference in others' domestic issues on the pretext of human rights. We expect China and Rwanda can continue to support each other in the area. This year marks the 50th anniversary of China-Rwanda diplomatic ties, we hope two sides can take this opportunity to promote bilateral relationship to a higher level.
Ms Mukasine thanks the Chinese Embassy in Kigali for the long-term support to promoting human rights in Rwanda and the NCHR's work. She says, the sudden outbreak of COVID-19 pandemic has a strong impact to the world. Against this backdrop, the development of human rights needs more attention from all parties. Rwanda and China have long-standing friendship, and many common understanding on human rights and other issues. The NCHR is willing to maintain contact with the Embassy, and continue cooperation to promote human rights in both countries.
